A Long Walk to Water

On January 18, 2022, students in grades 6th-8th began reading the novel A Long Walk to Water. We have just finished reading chapter 7 and students are blogging on Padlet walls about Environmental Sustainability, sharing their experiences with water, and collaborating about how they can teach others about the Global Water Crisis. Today, students began working with their math teachers on keeping track of their water usage. I can’t wait to share pictures on how they are applying their math skills. There will be a lot of learning going on across all disciplines during the next few months and I can’t wait to share our journey. I want to thank the team No Fluff Teaching Stuff on Teacher’s Pay Teachers for their amazing novel unit. When you purchase this unit a portion of the sales goes to educate children in Africa. In conjunction with all of this learning we are raising funds to support a school in South Sudan. Please check out H20 for life and help support the Global Water Crisis in South Sudan. https://www.h2oforlifeschools.org/sponsors/1036

Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th-October 15th)

Both our in-person and virtual students enjoyed doing class activities for Hispanic Heritage Month. Some of the activities we worked on were reading the book Me, Frida, and the Secret of the Peacock Ring, written by Angela Cervantes, and creating digital art. Thank you to A Space to Create Art, LLC. (https://aspacetocreateart.com/) for this fun and interactive lesson. Below is a sample of our virtual student’s artwork.

Welcome to middle school!

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!

I hope each of you had a restful and enjoyable summer break. My name is Mrs. Adrienne Ayala, and I’ve been teaching at Redlands eAcademy since the school opened in the fall of 2013, with the majority of my time spent in 5th and 6th grade. I’ve seen firsthand the benefits blended learning provides students and families, and I’m looking forward to partnering with you and your child this school year.

I’m excited to share that I will be teaching 6th grade English, Social Studies, and Student Leadership this school year. As your child’s teacher, I’ve set two goals for all my students; I want them to succeed academically and see growth in respect for themselves and others.

I believe in maintaining a nurturing and engaging learning environment where learning is fun and students are active participants in their learning process. My goal is to empower students to take ownership of their learning and provide them with opportunities to be creative, critical thinkers, collaborators, and effective communicators while building a solid foundation for life-long learning.

When I’m not working with students, I enjoy traveling to national parks with my husband, 11-year-old daughter, and 13-year-old son.

On this website, you will find our class syllabus and other resources that may be helpful for you and your child. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me at adrienne_ayala@redlands.k12.ca.us. I will respond to you within 24 hours.

This is going to be an amazing school year!
