Respect others. Follow the same polite and ethical standards of behavior online as you do in real life. Do to others, as you would have them do to you.
Respect people’s time and space when posting. Be careful not to submit comments more than once, or waste their time with silliness.
Take advantage of your anonymity. You will be judged only by the content and quality of your writing, not your color, gender, hair, eyes, weight, etc. Therefore, do a great job in your writing—spelling, punctuation, and grammar count.
Share your knowledge. It’s fun and makes the world a better place. Remember, you have to contribute if you are going to be successful in the 21st century.
Respect other people’s privacy. If someone forgets to log off in the computer lab, kindly do it for them. Never harm anyone’s work, files, or reputation.
Give credit to the creator when you directly quote or cite someone’s work. Be a leader in using Creative Commons photos and properly citing them.
Be forgiving of other’s online mistakes.
Be protective of your digital footprint. Get in the habit of posting things that make you proud. Your future colleges and employers will be able to read what you’ve said on Facebook and other places online.
